Responsibility
As President Reagan said, “we are a nation that has a government, not the other way around" And with that, it is the responsibilty of the United States Governement to defend, protect, and preserve your Unalienable Right to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness, with minimal government intrusions. It is your responsibility to do with your Life, Liberty, and Pursuit of Happiness as you wish!
I believe we have a gerneration, or more, of people in the United States and around the world, who have forgotten what it means to "fall down." Many of us were taught, when you fall down, you pick yourself up, dust yourself off, take responsibility for "your" actions which caused "you" to fall down. Then you learn from "your" mistakes and move on with your life.
Today, too many people fall down and lay there! Waiting for someone else to pick them up and dust them off. They have been conditioned, it is not their own actions or faults, which has caused them to fall down. But, the actions and faults of others which caused them to fall down. You can't take responsibility and learn from a mistake you did not make, now can you?
Insted of dusting themselves off, learning from the process of falling down, and moving on; they sue the person they feel is responsible. Then they sue the person who picked them up off the ground for not coming to the rescue quick enough, and then they wait! What are they waiting for, you ask? They wait for the handouts they believed they're entitled! Years of conditioning! They're victims of something, and they're entitled!
Now, we have to take responsibility for the direction of our own Life, Liberty, and Pursuit of Happiness. We have the responsibility of taking care of our own family, emotionally and financially. We have the responsibility of taking care of ourselves, emotionally and financially, so we can provide for our families. We have the responsibility of providing food, shelter, education, and medical care for our own families. We have a responsibilty to work as hard or as little as we wish to provide for these things. We have the responsibility to save or spend our own money as we see fit.
We have a responsibility to obey the laws of the land. And we have a responsibilty to PAY TAXES! It's PATRIOTIC remember? Yes, I said it! It is our PATRIOTIC DUTY to pay taxes. Well apparently, Obama doesn't think so!
Yes, Obama is having troubles finding People for the Presidential Cabinet Positions who believe it is their patriotic responsibilty to pay taxes, and isn't cheating the federal government out of money. The now confirmed Secretary of Treasury, the Detestable Timothy Geithner, cheated the government out of over $30,000 in taxes. Isn't it great Geithner, the smartest man in the world, is now head of the IRS, and was confused about the taxes he had to pay? Eventhough, Geithner was given a handbook of instructions on how to correctly file his taxes, and he signed a waiver acknowledging he hadn't paid his taxes. How about the unconfirmed Secretary of Health and Human Services, Tom Daschle, who cheated the government out of over $100,000. Um, if you don't know, Senator Tom Daschle wrote the tax laws! What is his excuse?
Now, intrestingly enough, we (the tax payers) will be bailing out the unresponsible State Governements who have totalled $2.23 trillion in debt. What does this mean? According to the Wall Street Journal:
"A federal bailout for these distressed states means redistributing income to these big spenders from the most fiscally responsible states. Federal aid also creates a disconnect between the people who pay for the local services and those who benefit from them. Under Mr. Obama's plan, people in Mississippi will wind up paying for swimming pools in California, taxpayers in Colorado will pay for the sewer system in Detroit, and residents of Arkansas will underwrite health care subsidies in Philadelphia."
How is this not "taxation without representation?" Heard that line before? It is what our Founding Fathers used as a basis for declaring independence from England. "For imposing Taxes on us without our Consent" - The Declaration of Independence.
As a resident of Illinois, I do not have any say in the election of Governor Schwarzenegger in California, who has racked up a $40 billion debt. I can not vote to remove him from office, I can not vote on what the State of California does with my tax dollars. This therefore, renders me taxed without the benefit of being represented in the State of California, or any other State other than Illinois that receives bailout money!
Again, who is responsible for the States running a $2.23 trillion debt? Well not them, obviously, they are just going to wait for their handouts. They are just the victims!
Not to worry though, "... one day, as Norman Thomas said, we will awake to find that we have Socialism...," Ronald Reagan.
"Governments don't tax to get the money they need. Governments will always find a need for the money they get," Ronald Reagan. And so it should be!
